Whitehorse, Yukon –The Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN) has invited the inviting territorial party leader candidates to participate in a public forum on Thursday, October 20th at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre from 7 to 9 p.m.
“It’s important Yukon First Nation citizens and all Yukoners make an informed decision when voting in the upcoming territorial election,” said CYFN Grand Chief Peter Johnston. “We want to elect a government that will support and work with Yukon First Nations and respect our Agreements. Our future depends on it.”
An invite has been sent to all four official territorial party leader candidates to participate. The forum will be carried out in a respectful and neutral manner. Each candidate will have equal opportunity to share their position on key issues and respond to questions. The provided written questions are focused on Yukon First Nation priorities and will be addressed to each territorial party leader candidate to share their views. Their responses will be posted on CYFN’s website, Facebook page and in local papers.
“We want a government that will commit to concrete actions towards reconciliation with all Yukon First Nations, both those with Final Agreements and those without, and improve their quality of life which will in turn, benefit all Yukoners,” said Grand Chief Johnston.
The forum is open to the public and media. The forum will air live on CHON FM and will stream live on the CYFN Facebook page. Visit CYFN’s website for more information at https://cyfn.ca/
