The Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN) officially welcomed the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation (VGFN) back to its Leadership table today with the passing of a CYFN Leadership Resolution endorsing VGFN’s full member status.

Since 2019, VGFN has engaged in leadership discussions as an associate member of CYFN. Earlier this summer, the VGFN General Assembly resolved that rejoining as a full member of CYFN would serve to protects its rights and strengthen its voice at the leadership table and in the work being done by CYFN.

CYFN Leadership endorsed VGFN’s membership today during its first meeting since the 2024 annual CYFN General Assembly in July. As a full member, VGFN will now have voting rights at the Leadership table.
