The Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN) has provided the Whitehorse Food Bank and Share the Spirit with donations that benefit Yukon families in need with funds provided by the Government of Canada.

A donation of $100,000 to the Whitehorse Food Bank will help the organization in its mission to provide emergency food to people in need across the Yukon through its food hamper program. The Whitehorse Food Bank provides emergency food hampers that contain seven days-worth of emergency food to approximately 1,900 people across the Yukon on a monthly-basis.

A $50,000 donation was made to Share the Spirit, a Yukon-based charitable organization that focuses on providing families in need with food and gifts for children during the holiday season. The group typically supports 500 families and over 1,000 children through its efforts and have reported an increase in numbers of referrals this holiday season.

In addition, CYFN has also supported its staff to volunteer at both organizations during working hours.
