Council of Yukon First Nations Presents the 2018 NHL Indigenous Alumni Tour
The Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN) announced its sponsorship of the 2018 NHL Indigenous Alumni Tour taking place from Monday, March 5th to Friday, March 9th.
For the second year in a row, several former NHL hockey players will be visiting various First Nations communities in the Yukon. This year’s tour includes the communities of Old Crow, Pelly Crossing, Teslin, Watson Lake and Whitehorse.
The NHL Indigenous Alumni lineup includes John Chabot, Reggie Leach, Arron Asham, Jason Simon, Jean-Sébastien Aubin, Eric Nattress, Jamie Leach and Laurie Boschman.
CYFN would like to thank all the partners involved in the 2018 Indigenous Alumni Tour: Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation, Selkirk First Nation, Teslin Tlingit Council, Liard First Nation, the Village of Teslin, the Town of Watson Lake and the Whitehorse Minor Hockey Association. A special thank you to our sponsors: Golden Predator Mining Corp., Alkan Air, Tintina Air, Edgewater Hotel and Boart Drilling.
“CYFN is pleased to sponsor the tour and provide an opportunity for Youth to connect with the Indigenous NHL Alumni, both on and off the ice. It’s important for our Youth to have positive influences in their lives and to have support within their communities. I hope the Alumni’s stories demonstrate that any obstacle can be overcome and inspire our Youth to make positive choices that will help attain their goals.”
– Council of Yukon First Nations Grand Chief Peter Johnston
